Originally we met in 1973 at the Phillis Wheatley Poetry Festival sponsored at Jackson State University by Dr. Margaret Walker Alexander.  I got her to sign the sketch Saturday, April 9, 2011 after Ms. Sanchez's morning address at the Margaret Walker Center Creative Arts Festival.

"The Crap Game"

I followed some boys out into the woods while they were shooting craps and drew them, the setting of the sketch is my father's motel in Tougaloo, Mississippi.  This painting won me a full scholarship to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. "Crap Game" was my first painting.
